LOGIN: "Enable Cookies" Message (0408-1544)
Cookies are used to retain the username, password and other member information.
The following steps should be taken to ensure that cookies are working properly:
- Time and Date
The most common problem with cookies not working is that the member's computer has the incorrect date and time. Have the member check the computer and make sure it has the correct month, day, year and time. If it is not current, have them reset it so it has the proper date and time. When it has been updated have them try to login to your site again.
- You have bookmarked an incorrect link
If you are using a bookmark in your browser to get to the site, make sure that you have saved the address with the 'www.' in front of the domain name. In other words, if you were saving this site to your bookmarks, the url should be www.membergate.com - not simply membergate.com
- Personal Firewall or Security Software
Some security software like Norton Antivirus or McAfee, etc have options for extremely high security that do not allow any cookies from any site. Your member will have to set the antivirus program to accept cookies specifically from your site.
- Firewall or Proxy Server
The computer the member is working on may have a firewall that prevents them from viewing sites assumed inappropriate for the user of the computer. Many workplaces have firewalls. The member would have to request the system administator allow access to the site. The only other solution would be for the member to use a computer that does not have a firewall.
- Browser Does Not Support Cookies
The member may be using a browser that does not support cookies. MemberGate sites require the use of cookies. The member will have to use a different browser that does support cookies to access your site.
