No fancy software. No extra programs to buy. Just pop in a CD-R and copy your files to CD. Here's how...

Well it's not exactly "free" bacause you will need some blank CD-R discs to back up to and your computer will need to have Windows-XP and a CD-RW drive on it.  Almost everyone has all these things already so it's free to anyone who does.  If you're missing one of these things, it's pretty inexpensive to buy any of them.

Here's a short (less than 5 minutes) video showing how to simply backup your embroidery designs to a CD using Windows-XP. Nothing fancy, it just works.
