Holly, Nita, CJ, Annette (Nita's sister) and I went to Galveston on December 1st, 2007 to take in the 34th annual "Dickens On The Strand". 

"The Strand" is the restored old-timey downtown section of Galveston.  It's buildings date back to the early 1900's and before and are now filled with restaurants and boutique shops.  The streets are cobblestone in some places and paved in others, but the whole place is just charming.

Every year they have a "Dickens Festival" where the shop vendors and street entertainers are asked to dress up in 1850's costumes for two days.  Many of the folks that come to see the festival also dress up.
