Hi! I am Paula McDougald...I am a Christian, a wife, a stay-at-home mom of a
5 year old little girl and 2 year old little boy, and the owner/designer/laborer/single employee of Sweet Pea's Boutique.
I had a limited amount of self-taught sewing skills when I took the plunge creating things for my baby-to-be while home from my teaching job on bed rest during the late stages of my pregnancy in 2002. After running out of ideas for things to sew for her room, I took on the task of creating a one-of-a-kind diaper bag to take to the hospital and finished with enough time to have a friend of my family embroider our daughter's name on the bag.
I was intrigued by the thought of personalizing my creations for my daughter and very soon (about 4 months later) talked my husband into purchasing my first embroidery machine. Once my skills developed enough that I began taking my creations out in public, I had a stead stream of oos and ahs over the diaper bags and other items I created for our little girl. Within six months of purchasing my first machine, Sweet Pea's Boutique was born!
Over 500 diaper bags, four embroidery machines, a website and one baby boy later, Sweet Pea's is still in business.constantly adding new ideas and new products to meet the changing demands of mommies today. I am still loving creating unique, personalized, and totally customized baby gifts, children's clothing, etc. and have a passion for pleasing my customers!
Along the way, I've spent many free moments digitizing embroidery designs for myself to use and recently became interested in creating designs for others. I also have a new passion...using digital graphics to create custom, personalized photo gifts, cards, and invitations. I look forward to seeing where the newest ideas and creations take Sweet Pea's in the days to come!
