Digitize In A Day
Fort Walton Beach FL
Saturday, March 6th, 2010

Learn to digitize embroidery designs in our one-day workshop! Our workshops are "hands-on" computer training so the classes are kept small and personal with a maximum of 12 students. The day starts promptly at 8:00 am. While we load the digitizing software on your computer, you'll enjoy meeting other students along with coffee and bagels in the conference room.

The class starts in earnest at 8:00 as Holly teaches the principles of of digitizing... density, stitch angles, overlaps, pull-compensation and other concepts you need to succeed. Then we move on to digitizing your first designs following our "see-then-do" system.

By noon time you have digitized your first few designs and have an understanding of what digitizing is all about and how to do it. Anyone who wants to join Holly for lunch will be able to do so at a nearby restaurant or in the hotel restaurant if there is one on premises. You can leave your computer in the room as Larry will stay there during lunch to keep an eye on things.

After the lunch break, you complete a couple more designs then watch as Holly gets you going using the really fun digitizing tools to create fancy fills, motifs, redwork, and more. We provide soda and snacks in the conference room during the afternoon session.

The seminar ends at 5:00 pm and you take home video CD's that reinforce what you learned in the Digitize In A Day Workshop. You can also take home a 30 day trial version of our digitizing software and continue learning from Holly on our website.

If you have any questions or concerns before the seminar you can reach Larry at larry@artisticthreadworks.com or 847-946-1342.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Should I bring my own digitizing software to the class?

A: We will all be using Generations software in the class. That way everyone has the same tools and they work the same way. If you have Generations then please bring it with you. If you have other software, there is no need to bring it for the day.

Q: I have another brand of digitizing software. Will I learn to digitize with my software in your workshop?

A: The answer is both "yes" and "no". The principles of digitizing are the same regardless of what software you are using. And the tools that you pick up and work with are similar in every digitizing program. However, what the tool icons look like and where they are located on your computer screen are different from one digitizing package to the next. Additionally, some of the features you learn to use in the workshop are not found in other software programs.

Q: Should I buy a pen and tablet to digitize with?

A: Not right now. If you already use a pen & tablet and are VERY used to clicking and right-clicking with the pen, then you are certainly welcome to use them in the workshop, but if you don't normally use a pen & tablet, PLEASE don't buy one before the workshop and try to use it there for the first time. It takes focus and concentration to master using a pen-style mouse and you'll want to focus on learning to use the software instead.

Q: Will you be coming to ____________ to do a workshop?

A: We plan to do about a dozen "Digitize In A Day" workshops per year in as many locations as possible. Watch the announcements of upcoming workshops here on our website or sign up for our newsletter to be notified of new workshops as they are added to our schedule.

Q: I don't see any classes near me on your schedule, do you offer your classes on CD or DVD?

A: We are in the process of putting together a web-based learning program and a CD-based learning program for this workshop. Sign up for our newsletter if you'd like to be notified when they become available.
