5 Steps To Making Embroidered Coasters
Making embroidered coasters is a simple 5-step process that will give you a quick project to finish off. Once completed, they can be used as gifts for any occasion.
Step 1: Iron fusible Pellon interfacing to the back side of the material you are adding the designs to...

Step 2: Hoop and embroider everything except the decorative outline (the last color) onto the material...

Step 3: DO NOT UNHOOP YET! Next, add another layer as "backing material" by "floating" it right-side-down under the hoop. This layer of backing material will hide the back of your embroidery!
(Floating = just slide the material under the hoop and start stitching. Once the first stitch goes through it will be attached to the hooped material and will move as if it were also hooped.)

Step 4: Now stitch the decorative outline...

Step 5: Remove the ornament from the hoop and trim the edges! You can use straight or pinking shears...

While these photos show a Christmas ornament, it could also be used as a coaster - siimply embroider the appropriate design and shape.
