EMBROIDERY DESIGN FORMATS
The files you extract from our zip folders will normally be in several formats. Different brands of machine use different formats and the ones we include are the most common formats based on embroidery machine sales volumes. IF YOUR MACHINE FORMAT is not in our zip folder, it is an easy matter to CONVERT a design from one format to another. It requires an embroidery software program to make the conversion. There are many of these programs available ranging from free to $1000 with the most common prices being about $150 currently.
The formats we include in most of our zip files are... ART, DST, HUS, JEF, PES. If your machine does not use one of those formats, you can learn about converting formats using different software program as a member of our website under the TUTORIALS section. We have been providing embroidery designs since 2001 and many formats have come and gone during that time. We do not change the formats we provide as new formats come into use and old ones go out of fashion as it would be an unnecessary and never-ending effort to update our tens of thousands of designs files. "Unnecessary" because it's easy for embroidery hobbyists to change formats themselves.
If you can see the file name of our design but you cannot see the 3-letter format extension after the design name, then Windows on your computer has been set to "hide known file extensions". You can change that setting by opening the settings under "VIEW" and choosing the "ADVANCED" tab. Once you are in the advanced tab, go to the bottom of the window and locate the line that says "Hide known file extensions". Un-check the box in front of that line and click the OK button at the bottom of the window. Now you should be able to see the extensions of all files so you can identify which file is the right format for your machine.
