Greetings

Im really excited about this, I belong to a recreation group and love to do embrodery on costumes. Any ideas from anyone would be appreciated. The time period is 1600 and back.
thanks Kathy

Glad to see another new member. Welcome aboard. I'm not sure what designs fit the 1600 period, but I'm sure someone who knows will come along and advise you. My only guess would be the Jacobean designs found here:

Blackwork dates back to the rennaisance times and before. So does celtic. Have some blackwork either here or on www.hollysdesignstudio.com site.

Blessings and Welcome! Wow you sound like a busy gal and how exciting that you are getting to work on reinactment costuming. There are several excellent pattern places on the internet. A friend and I had contemplated working with some civil war reinactment costuming but it fell through. Now I help out with doing Native American Regalia a bit. I had a stroke so my activity level has greatly diminished the past year and a half but I am building back up to speed so looking forward to comparing notes with you down the line.

OF NOTE: Holly and the digitizers have some amazing flowers, and jacobean flowers too that if done tone and tone would be absolutely stunning on some of your items! I haven't really done much cutwork and so I am not sure if there is much here but she always loves suggestions and maybe could add a couple of sets on her production schedule.

Looking forward to seeing you on the forum boards! Again, Welcome!!!!!!

Hi Kathy,

Welcome aboard! I have one recommendation, but I think their stuff is more 1800's. Take a look at UrbanThreads.com. Their stuff is beautiful, sometimes a bit quirky and weird, but I love a lot of it.

Good luck!
Jules

Hi Kathy! I also do costumes for that time frame. http://www.emblibrary.com/EL/search.aspx?search=blackwork Embroidery Library has some great black work. I love their designs! I also use a lot of the Jacobean designs (did an entire dress back, search the photos for cararoo). It would depend on the group as to which would be more appropriate and from which continent the costumes would be for. Our group is not picky about any 'historical' era as we are mostly fantasy so I can use what I want.
