Summer Starts Today!

It's Memorial Day weekend and that's the official start of the summer season. "Celestial" summer starts on June 21st (Mid-Summer Nite's Eve) but today is the start of summer for all practical purposes.

In another 100 days the vacations will be over and mom's everywhere will get back some of their solitude, but for now... let the games begin!

Holly and I went to graduation ceremonies yesterday for our grand niece and grand nephew. That was so much fun to see a pre-school graduation. Three, four, and five year-olds do the funniest stuff! LOL!

The ATW site has been undergoing some improvements to the way content is organized over the last couple weeks. It looks like we've settled on the following informational areas...

- Getting Started
- Embroidery Machines
- Embroidery Accessories
- Embroidery Supplies
- Embroidery Designs
- Embroidery Techniques
- Embroidery Projects
- Computers & Software
- Generations Digitizing
- Embroidery Connections
- Embroidery Business
- Quilting Bee

The reason for the changes is to make things easier to find and in a logical order too. I'm adding a LOT of content to the site over the next few weeks. In fact, we have over 100 new videos alone! With that much new information coming for our members, I decided to take the time first to get everything organized.

Please "Pardon Our Dust" while I reorganize the content. There may be times when a section of the site disappears for a short time or when a new section appears but is empty. It takes a little bit of time to move stuff around. Kind of a virtual furniture rearranging!

Another one of those improvements is to our newsletter. We have changed the newsletter to run on a separate website and that starts as of the Memorial Day weekend 2010.

We think you will like the new site as much as Holly and I do already. One reason for the change is to make it easier for Holly to post. With the new newsletter we can put up posts quickly and easily from anywhere using our iPads. Adding pictures to our newsletter posts also became easier for us with the new site. It has several other technical benefits that make adding info to our newsletter better.

Our newsletter readers will also benefit by the new newsletter's features. The feedback from our focus groups has been that it is much easier to read thanks to the layout improvements. They've also commented on how much they like the improvements to the graphics. I hope you like the updates too.

While we were in the process of updating things, we decided to give our newsletter a new name that is more in keeping with who we are and what we do today. The new newsletter name is...

Embroidery Highway

We hope you will enjoy this new newsletter site we have put together.

Last "In-Person" Workshop For A While

Holly is teaching digitizing today in Indianapolis. This is the last in-person workshop we have scheduled for a while. Our next in-person class will probably be in July but we don't have the dates and locations set for them yet! When we do have the exact date and location, we will publish the info to you.

in our photo gallery!

Note: When posting pictures showing an embroidery
design in our photo gallery, please give
credit to the digitizer as other members will
want to know where to get those designs too!

Each photo posted in our photo gallery enters
you into our weekly photo contest where we give
away a 3 month membership to ATW.
It's a random drawing so your photo doesn't have
to show some wonderful one-of-a-kind project
in order to be the winner.

Just do something, take a picture,
and post it to our photo gallery!

(Note to members... when you post a photo in the gallery, it is automatically entered into the contest for that week's prize drawing. But, if the photo includes an embroidery design you must say what website or digitizer the design came from like mjaybee did with this photo, in order for it to win the prize for the week. If the design came from another digitizer, that's okay, you can still win with the photo, but we have to be able to credit the other digitizer's work or I can't post the photo here in our newsletter so I can't let that photo win. Okay? Cool. You guys rock! -- Larry)
