641 New Designs Released...

I was just looking back at the new designs released so far in 2010 on ATW. We have put up 641 new designs so far this year. A member would have paid about $23 for membership during that time ($19.95 for 3 months) or about 3-1/2 cents per new design. They would also have access to our library of previous releases with another 18,000+ designs in it. Plus articles, forums, photos galleries, online videos, and other content. If you're not a member yet please join us for a great time and a great deal! Click here for membership details

We will be doing a webinar today at 2pm Central Time. After that's finished Holly will start some laundry while I pick up and pack up the outside stuff and prepare for next Tuesday's departure. Laundry and yardwork... we sure lead a life of excitement don't we! :-)

Our next stop will be near Atlanta for the American Embroidery Conference. We will get to visit with friends there for a few days then on to Columbia SC for a digitizing workshop. (Details below under "Digitize In A Day" heading)

For those of us in the South, summer is upon us. For our friend farther North, hopefully it's upon you too.

Update On Holly...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

You may recall from last week's newsletter that Holly tripped over one of these on Friday...

She's doing much better now. The purple around her eye and on her cheek have turned to a lovely shade of green in most areas. Only a little purple left under the eye.

On Monday morning I called the hospital for the total on the bill for Friday's ER visit. Wow! I found out that Florida hospitals have a very different way of charging for services than Illinois hospitals. It's too long of a story to go into detail here but the bottom line is that here they inflate the price to a really ridiculous amount and then see how much your insurance company will pay.

A friend in the insurance business explained the why's and wherefore's to me but I almost had a heart attack when I first heard the amount on the bill. For example, in Illinois a tetanus shot costs about $40 in the ER. Here they billed $385 for the shot. I'll let my insurance company work with them on the bill amount and then pay my portion after they're all done haggling over the details.

Newsletter & Website Updates Continued...

Still working on newsletter updates. May be another week or two before they're ready for prime-time.

Little Programs You Just Don't Want To Be Without...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you have any favorite little computer programs that you'd just hate to not have available?

I use "Text Expander" on my Mac and it's one of those programs for me. I just type a series of letters and if they are a sequence that I have memorized in Text Expander then the little program replaces those letters with the ones I really want typed out.

As an example, if I type in ". larry" (but without the space) then Text Expander will replace it with this...

Larry Pike
www.ArtisticThreadWorks.com
"Where the embroidery community meets to unravel"

That's pretty handy for forum posts! But there are other ones that I have memorized in TE that type out HTML for me. I can type ". link" (without the space) and it will replace it with...

which is the HTML code for making a link to another web page.

There have been other programs over the years that I've loved dearly for their utility including PaintShopPro-6, Embird, Iconizer, JazCap, and others too.

ATW Members: How about you? Any favorite little programs???

Upcoming Workshops Sold Out

The workshops we have scheduled for Fort Myers and Fort Walton Beach are both sold out. When Holly gets home on Sunday we will schedule some more workshops and let you know the dates and locations as quickly as possible.

Tentatively, we will add a 2nd workshop for Fort Walton Beach and additional ones in New Orleans and somewhere in Alabama in March. Then SC in April and others in PA, OH, and Indiana. We'll post these new locations as dates as soon as possible.

Close up of embossed Bride

by kathleenhash

" These embossed designs are easy to do (one thread color), and the quality is excellent. From Embroidery Library "

Thank you kathleenhash
for posting this great picture
in our photo gallery!

Note: When posting pictures showing an embroidery
design in our photo gallery, please give
credit to the digitizer as other members will
want to know where to get those designs too!

Each photo posted in our photo gallery enters
you into our weekly photo contest where we give
away a 3 month membership to ATW.
It's a random drawing so your photo doesn't have
to show some wonderful one-of-a-kind project
in order to be the winner.

Just do something, take a picture,
and post it to our photo gallery!

Bailey's Bassinet

This photo was posted by mjaybe who
has won a 3 month
ATW membership
for posting it...

"I got my new grand-daughter's bassinet finished just in time for her shower! We found the fabric at JoAnns and Hancocks (and I got to use the beautiful trim I bought last year just because it was so pretty). Now we're ready for her to arrive! Marilyn "

(Note to members... when you post a photo in the gallery, it is automatically entered into the contest for that week's prize drawing. But, if the photo includes an embroidery design you must say what website or digitizer the design came from like mjaybee did with this photo, in order for it to win the prize for the week. If the design came from another digitizer, that's okay, you can still win with the photo, but we have to be able to credit the other digitizer's work or I can't post the photo here in our newsletter so I can't let that photo win. Okay? Cool. You guys rock! -- Larry)
